Dr Abhisheik Prashar is a consultant cardiologist and co-principal of Specialist Cardiology. He sub-specialises in interventional cardiology and structural heart disease.
After completing his cardiology training at St George Hospital in 2020, Abhi achieved Fellowship with the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP). He then pursued advanced sub-specialty training in coronary and structural heart interventions at St George Hospital (Sydney), the Austin Hospital (Melbourne), and King’s College Hospital (London).
Abhi’s clinical expertise spans general and interventional cardiology, including chest pain assessment, coronary angioplasty, percutaneous coronary intervention, and advanced coronary calcium modification. He is proficient in intravascular imaging techniques, such as IVUS and OCT.
A key focus of his practice is the management of patients with valvular heart diseases. He uses advanced techniques such as transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) and transcatheter edge-to-edge repair (TEER) for mitral and tricuspid regurgitation. Additionally, he is skilled in patent foramen ovale (PFO) closure, atrial septal defect (ASD) closure, and left atrial appendage (LAA) occlusion.
Beyond his clinical practice, Abhi is committed to advancing medical research and education. He has published extensively in leading cardiology journals, contributing to advancements in both coronary and structural heart disease treatments. He holds a Master’s degree in Clinical Epidemiology from the University of Sydney and also serves as a Conjoint Lecturer with the University of New South Wales.
